Downtown Liverpool in Business with GUSTO!
Thu 28th May 09 - 15:11

Rodger Jones from Downtown Liverpool tells us his thoughts on GUSTO Albert Dock...

My Brother was over from Holland this week so I took him to Gusto for lunch on Sunday and got to squeeze a magicians lemons! Paul came to our table and offered a trick as resident magician. My first thoughts were that this was a bit tacky and I must pass on my criticism to Carolyn Hughes who works her PR magic with Gusto, how wrong could I be? Paul demonstrated three close hand tricks that had Steve and me totally gobsmacked.

I love Gusto and wanted to get my Bro's opinion. He's a bit like me in that he loves his food and dines out as often as he can. He's not the easiest person to impress and we do have an on-going lifelong battle to out do each other, so Gusto was a no brainer!

The food was always going to impress, I knew that from the experience of dining at Gusto many times in the past. I was after something more and got it in bucketfuls. So here is Gusto from a Dutch eye view.

There is certainly the WOW factor as you enter and the welcome from the staff is not overwhelming and gushy. As you would expect for a Sunday, there was a great family atmosphere, enhanced by Paul the resident illusionist, who turned scraps of paper into wads of money, turned little balls into big lemons and WILL be appearing at a Downtown event in the near future.

Food was unrushed, cooked to perfection and presented as if it were food and not a work of art. Staff who were not looking after customers, looked after the restaurant by cleaning and polishing and generally taking pride in the place.

Gusto get top marks and deserves them. It is one of the reasons why we are holding our next Members Reception there on the 30th April. I hope that you will be joining us.
