Profile 1 : The Operations Director

Name : Sue Crimes

Sue is Operations Director for GUSTO and has most recently overseen the transformation of the business from EST EST EST to the current format.

She started working for Life Restaurants in 1997 (the company that developed Via Vita and Life Cafe and which went on to become Living Ventures with the development of The Living Room in 1999) as a waitress and quickly progressed to restaurant supervisor and then Restaurant Manager and opened her first restaurant in Bristol as Assistant General Manager.

Sue's drive and energy then won her the opportunity to manage the first restaurant in a new brand - Life Cafe in Liverpool in 1998. Sue was involved in this business from its concept inception to its sale in late 1999.

Next Sue was appointed an area manager for the fast growing Living Room brand opening two restaurants in London and then running a portfolio of six sites until 2005 when her ability to transfer her skills was recognised by her appointment as Director of Operational development with the key responsibility for training and development across the company's brands.

Finally in 2006 Sue was appointed Director of Operations for Est Est Est and joined the full operating board of Living Ventures as Operations Director for GUSTO in July 2007.

From Waitress to Board director in less than ten years. A meteoric rise and testament to Sue's ability and to Living Venture's ability to recognise, nurture and develop great operators.
